Overview

OVERVIEW:

This is a great opportunity for a rewarding and career enhancing experience working on the tropical island of Guam, located between Hawaii and the Philippines in the western North Pacific Ocean.  Along with miles of pristine sandy beaches, coral reefs, beautiful mountains and valleys, Guam has 4,000 years of history ranging from the site of Magellan’s landing to Spanish Forts and WWII battle sites. This position will support the on-site construction oversight team, providing Construction Management Agency (CMa) services for the construction of a large and complex headquarters project.  The CMa team will provide turnkey services to the client from the field as well as be supported by reach back resources as necessary.

 

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION:

MBP is seeking an adventurous rising star in the construction industry who is looking to gain overseas experience, growth opportunities, and the desire to work on significant and meaningful projects in support of our national security.

 

We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry and willing to support MBP’s growth and advancement in Guam and the Indo-Pacific region.  Experience in the Federal sector is preferred, but similar experience within state, municipal, or extensive vertical, civil/site work projects will also be considered.

Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES:

Project assignments include on-site representation of clients, preparation and management of project documentation, cost estimating, scheduling, plan review, and construction inspection. May assist in the review of project records, schedules, and as-built construction to evaluate change orders and requests for extension of time. Independently apply techniques and analyze for problems and methods. Ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables with periodic fluctuations in workload.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Perform necessary administrative duties and support other office activities.
  • Participate in and receive professional and companywide training
  • Participate in company activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or industry related field.
  • General knowledge of engineering principles of construction management and project controls.
  • General knowledge of the following: critical path method (CPM) scheduling, cost estimating, constructability and design review, inspection, and quality management.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Familiarity with electronic project management information, controls, and reporting management system platforms is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Bluebeam, and CADD.
  • Ability and readiness to engage in MBP-provided training and grasp of current relevant electronic project management tools, systems, and platforms.
  • Ability to develop, track, maintain, and communicate project controls and reporting work product within MBP’s project management and reporting framework.
  • Ability to work within a project team to complete project assignments.
  • Ability to execute tasks independently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain industry certifications specific to duties assigned.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports/correspondence related to the work.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to develop innovative, creative solutions to problems while utilizing analytical skills.
  • Ability to deeply focus on the details of an assignment and then summarize findings for presentation to project leadership.
  • Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas verbally and written.
  • Ability to positively represent MBP within and outside of the workplace by acting with integrity in interpersonal interactions.
  • Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Able to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.
  • Be a United States citizen.
