Overview

MBP is seeking new Team Members for growth opportunities and to work on meaningful projects that support our community.  For this position, we seek candidates in the Leesburg, Virginia, area with education and/or experience in construction management. The project will involve mostly off hours work – nights and weekends.  The ability to work independently and to deal with multiple, demanding stakeholders is required. 

 

A Project Manager must demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities. Evidence of progressive career development within the construction industry.  Experience on projects utilizing Construction Manager at Risk delivery is preferred

Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Managing a project’s overall effort for the client, including managing a team, and coordinating the work of various project entities (designer, contractor, owner personnel). 
  • Recognized as key client contact point and decision-maker. 
  • Attends client meetings as MBP Representative. 
  • Prepares, monitors, and manages client project budgets and internal budgets. 
  • Analyzes and optimizes internal and external processes.
  • Maintains positive and productive working relationships with peer leaders, superiors, and subordinates, as well as with the client and stakeholders.
  • Participates in interviewing and recommending candidates to fill vacancies and build capabilities within the workforce.
  • Mentors and facilitates the imparting of technical knowledge to staff, including the transfer of technical knowledge from the more senior personnel to those with less experience.
  • Manages, directs, and coordinates the work of assigned staff.
  • Monitors progress, utilization, and quality of work produced by assigned staff.
  • Conducts site visits, identifies potential engineering problems, and proposes solutions and alternatives.
  • Provides subject matter technical engineering expertise and supports and reviews the technical work of others.
  • Adjusts workload to changes and work to meet deadlines.

 ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Engages in business development.
  • Participates in marketing activities.
  • Actively participates in company initiatives.
  • Provides project management on mid-size to large projects.
  • May prepare, monitor, and manage client project budgets.
  • Fully manage individual multipliers, utilization forecasts and project margins.
  • Provides training to less experienced personnel.
  • Attends and participates in professional association meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of construction management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

B.S. in industry-related field preferred. Professional registration and other job-relevant certifications such as CCM, CCE, or advanced specialized technical knowledge are strongly preferred. Detailed knowledge of construction, principles of construction management and project controls, with specialized knowledge in several areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, and construction techniques.  Knowledge of personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training, and business development.

  • Expertise with MBP's diverse services.  
  • Provides leadership and training to other team members.  Direct client contact and client care. 
  • Operates at expert level in one or more service areas with responsibility for final work product.
  • Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Capable of managing a large project team.
  • Ability to influence and guide client direction.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
  • Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.

GUIDANCE/RESPONSIBILITY: 

  • Able to work independently and determine solutions.
  • Provides training to less experienced personnel.
  • Manages the profitability of projects and their forecasted budgets.
  • Oversees the utilization of team member subordinates.
  • Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach.

SUPERVISORY:

Capable of supervising individuals and teams.

Full-time
